لعبتنا لهذا الأسبوع تعدّ من الألعاب الإستراتيجية بامتياز، وهي من برمجة شركة Lionhead Studios التي اعتادت أن تقدم أهم الألعاب، وخصوصاً الألعاب الإستراتيجية - القتالية.
أما لعبتنا فهي تحمل اسم Black and White 2 وهي الجزء الثاني من هذه اللعبة وتعوّل شركة Lion head الكثير على هذا الجزء ففي حال حقق نجاحاً ملحوظاً من حيث الشعبية والمبيعات فقد تتحول Black and White سلسلة لها أجزاء متنوعة. وقد أوكلت مهمة تسويق اللعبة إلى شركة EA.
واللافت هو الفارق الزمني بين الجزء الأول والجزء الثاني من اللعبة (خمس سنوات) وهي مدة طويلة نسبياً. فبعد الظهور للجزء الأول عام 2001م تم إطلاق الجزء الثاني في مطلع السنة 2006م ولكن منذ اللحظة الأولى بدأت الانتقادات تطاول Lion Head إذ عدّ أغلب من لعب واختبر Black and White في جزئها الأول أن Black and white 2 على تشابه كبير قد يصل إلى حد التطابق، الأمر الذي يؤثر على متعة اللعبة وعلى صدقية المبرمجين والشرطة المصممة.
وتنطلق اللعبة من فيلم سينمائي قصير يدخلنا في جو اللعبة ويأخذنا في رحلة قصيرة إلى الأراضي والأماكن الخاضعة لنفوذ اللاعبين، كما يصور لنا الأراضي المتاخمة.
وكما سبق وذكرنا فإن اللعبة هي لعبة إستراتيجية قتالية، وبالتالي على اللاعب أن يستخدم حنكته بالإضافة إلى مهارته العسكرية القتالية، وتنطلق مراحل اللعبة تدرجاً سواء من حيث المهمات أو الصعوبة، إذ يبدأ اللاعب بمراحل سهلة نسبياً حيث يأخذ اللاعب دور إله إغريقي يقوم بحكم مملكته ويساعد شعبه على العيش فيها، كما يقوم بالتحكم في الجنود في سعيهم إلى التوسع وضم ممالك إضافية لتخضع لسلطته.
ويبدأ اللاعب بالمهمات الأولى الأكثر أهمية على الإطلاق، وهي (البناء)، إذ يتوجب عليه أن يقوم ببناء مدن وقرى جديدة وجعلها مأهولة بالسكان. وهو طبعا يأخذ في الاعتبار الأمور الحيوية ككونها قريبة من المياه والطرق الرئيسة للقوافل وبعيدة عن أراضي العدو.
وتقدّم اللعبة خياراً وحيداً اللعب الفردي، حيث على اللاعب مواجهة الكومبيوتر والذكاء الإصطناعي ساعياً للحصول على أكبر رصيد ممكن من المال الأمر الذي يعطيه ثروة ويتم هذا في حال تمكنه من بناء مدن جديدة أو احتلال أراضٍ للعدو أو اكتشاف الذهب أو عبر الحقول والزراعة لديه.
وتقدم اللعبة طريقة سهلة من التحكم عبر Mouse إذ يمكن اللاعب أن يرى خريطته من السماء ومن خلال الدخول Zoom in إلى أي منطقة يريدها، سواء الذهاب والتحكم في التنقيب عن الذهب أو المواد الأولية أو الإنتقال إلى التحكم وفي البنائين... كل هذا يتم بطريقة سهلة للغاية.واللافت في اللعبة الجزر الموجودة فيها إذ يقوم اللاعب باكتشاف مناطق جديدة، فلا تقتصر عملياته العسكرية على الأراضي المتاخمة له فقط بل يقوم بإرسال سفنه وشحن الحرب إلى الجزر القريبة منه، الأمر الذي يعطي اللعبة متعة إضافية.
أما العمليات العسكرية فهي تتطلب حنكة وتركيزاً عاليين، إذ على اللاعب معرفة الوقت المناسب لشن الحرب وكيفية تنظيم جيوشه وفرقته العسكرية، والأهم معرفة حجم القوة العسكرية للخصم. ففي حال كان الخصم يملك تفوقاً كبيراً يأتي دور الإستراتيجية في إعلان هدنة، ريثما يملك اللاعب الجيوش الكفيلة، بالفوز في المعركة.
وتتيح اللعبة إمكان حفظ المرحلة ما يسّهل على اللاعب مهمته فلا يضطر لإعادة المرحلة منذ بدايتها في حال تعرض للخسارة والقتل.
من حيث الذكاء الاصطناعي فهو جيد نسبياً رغم مواجهته بعض المشكلات في الاستجابة.
وتقدم اللعبة عدداً من المراحل التدريبية التي تسهل على اللاعب التحكم فيها في حال أراد استخدام لوحة المفاتيح Keyboard إلى جانب الMouse.
أما تقنيات الصورة والصوت فهي جيدة، إذ أن الصور لا تواجه أي مشكلات، وتضم تناسقاً لافتاً في الألوان. أما الصوت فهو جيد نسبياً رغم أنه لا يقدم شيئاً جديداً.
اختصاراً فإن Black and White 2 لعبة عادية لا ينصح بتجربتها لمن يريد خوض لعبة إستراتيجية من الطراز الرفيع، لكونها لا تقدم أموراً تشدّ اللاعبين وتخطف الأنفاس.
ولكن لمن يهوى مثل هذه الألعاب فهي تتطلب أجهزة PIV 1600 أو أكثر بالإضافة إلى 512MB RAM و3.5GB Hard Disk للحصول على أفضل أداء.
Black & White 2
Black & White 2 is a video game developed by Lionhead Studios and published by Electronic Arts. It blends real-time strategy, city building and god game elements. The player (the last god) is called to the world from a "pure prayer" and thus comes upon a scene of a Greek city being devastated by a huge Aztec army. After the player saves a certain amount of people, their people are transported to a new land with a handful of refugee worshippers, the player must re-establish a power base from which to eventually defeat the Aztec empire. To do so, the player must conquer the Norse, the Japanese and the Aztecs, by peace, or war.
Throughout the game there is a theme of "The prophecy" which states that a tribe will be destroyed by the mightiest power in the world but will receive a god who will lead them to glory and dominance of the world.
The only way the player can interact with this world directly is through the player's hand, with which the player can pick up people, trees, food, and influence the ground. The player can also cast miracles. However, a certain amount of "Mana" (in essence, "Prayer Power") from the player's believers is needed to do this.
One of the game's most innovative features is that its user interface is almost buttonless. The HUD (Heads-Up Display) is much simpler than other such "creator" games, such as The Sims and Rollercoaster Tycoon, and the player sees little else on the screen but the world, the player's hand, and toolbars which the player can make disappear. To do things such as cast miracles, the player moves the hand in such a way to make a symbol on the ground, which is called a gesture. This activates the miracle, and if the player has enough mana, it appears in the player's hand ready to cast. Miracles have a variety of different uses. There are 6 ordinary miracles: fire, lightning, water, shield, heal, and meteor, (each of which can be thrown or poured), and 4 epic wonders, which are hurricane, siren, earthquake, and volcano.
The player's creature can do most things the player can do, such as cast miracles. They will grow slowly for a long time, and can become very large. Since the player trains him, his personality can become whatever the player makes of it. They may be an aide in supporting the player's kingdom or the ultimate soldier in the player's army.
There are three possible paths to take in this game: Good, Evil, or a more neutral combination of the two; although this decision is not discrete. The typical path of an evil god will be one of fear, torture, conquest and destruction using epic armies and building fearsome places, such as a pit of torture, while that of a good god will be one of benevolence, more positive city building, and lots of looking after the populace, particularly defending it from attack. Both of these require ore and wood, of which there is a limited amount (though some maps have bottomless mines and water miracles can turn a single tree into a forest used correctly), making players choose a strategy - but there is plenty of slack in each.
The game features Norse, Aztec, Japanese, and Greek tribes. The player's tribe is the Greeks.
